The Swedish scientific Carl von Linné (Carl Linnaeus) was 25 years old when he explored in 1732 Lapland, a region still not well-known at that time. His botanical and zoological observations lead to the publication of "Flora Lapponica" in 1737. His diaries, published after his death, are exceptional for their scientific and literary contents. They reveal Liné’s fascination for the hyperborean regions and for their inhabitants, the Samis.
