"Keynotes" is the first collection of short stories written by George Egerton. It was a literary success in the United States and Europe. Egerton was part of the literary "fin de siècle" and Decadent movements. Her stories are mainly about the fact that the so-called feminine purity is created by men and prevents women from experiencing their sexual freedom and to fulfill their desires.
