The Völsunga saga is one of the earliest fornaldarsaga (legendary saga) to be written down, dating from late 13th-century. Based on heroic poems from the Poetic Edda, it is about the origin and decline of the Völsung clan.

Pour cette analyse, je me suis concentré sur les chapitres 2 à 8. C'était la passage du texte le plus pertinent par rapport au sujet de la mythologie et de la réception de cette dernière.
