The Danish poet and critic Johan Ludvig Heiberg was professor of the Danish language in 1820s at the University of Kiel in Germany. He delivered a course of lectures, comparing the Scandinavian mythology of he Edda with the poems of his contemporary fellow Oehlenschläger. These lectures were published in German in 1827.
